2023 Global Ireland Summit

IJCC Director, Dominic Keogh, was delighted to attend the Global Ireland Summit in Dublin Castle, on October 24th representing the Ireland Japan Chamber of Commerce.

As part of the Heads of Mission Conference 2023, spanning 23rd-25th October, the Global Ireland Summit was not only an opportunity to reflect on the work that has already been undertaken to expand Ireland’s global footprint, but to look at what exciting initiatives that are coming up. It was thrilling to hear from An Tánaiste, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Micheál Martin the renewed commitment of the Government of Ireland to deepening its relationship with Japan, including the upcoming opening of the new flagship Ireland House in Tokyo as well as Ireland’s participation in the 2025 World Expo in Osaka.

His full address can be found here: https://www.gov.ie/.../298e2-keynote-address-by-tanaiste.../

It was also an opportunity to welcome home Ambassador Damien Cole as well as Ireland’s Honorary Consul and former IJCC President, Mr. Seiji Kasama and forge new relationships to bolster Ireland Japan relations.

We additionally heard from the young people of Ireland, who challenged the delegates not only to think about how the diaspora can help Ireland, but how this diaspora can help the world. Also, Ireland is a leader in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), with unprecedented numbers of highly skilled and diverse AI experts, making it a great place to do business. We also heard from Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan about how new innovative sources of financing will lead to vulnerable countries and those most in need being able to tackle the climate crisis.

Exciting times ahead for Ireland playing its role on the world stage - #GlobalIreland.
