Event Report – Joint chamber networking event with the ACCJ
The seventh annual IJCC-ACCJ joint networking event was held at the Irish Ambassador's residence on Thursday 2nd February with over 110 people in attendance.
This is always one of the most popular events in our calendar. With our American friends confirming they sold their allocation in less than 48 hours!
The Irish Ambassador welcomed our guests and gave a short speech that referenced the importance of the bilateral trade between Ireland and the USA. The Ambassador also spoke about the many events coming up for St Patricks Day in Japan. Including the multiple St Patricks Day parades, the "I Love Ireland Festival" (expecting over 100,000 people to attend this year) and The Emerald Ball in Tokyo American Club which is almost sold out.
Our friends at the ACCJ were represented by Marie Kissel, VP ACCJ, who reciprocated the Ambassadors message on the significance of the bilateral trade between Ireland and America. She spoke from first hand experience as she works for Abbott, a global diversified healthcare company with a subsidiary in Ireland. One of over 700 US Company's with operations in Ireland.
The IJCC President, Gerry Mulligan promised not to speak about politics and he led us quickly into the Kanpai so our guests could continue to enjoy the evening.
Diageo once again sponsored the evening with Guinness and Bailey's for everyone. This left our MC for the evening John Fallon struggling to clear the room at the end of the night as the stout continued to flow and business connections were further strengthened. A relaxing and enjoyable evening!
Another key sponsor of the IJCC, British Airways, were present. And we announced details of the most recent offer that has been extended to IJCC members for flights to Europe.
After the event, the conversations continued to flow further down the road in Azabu Juban. We are already looking forward to inviting our own members, and the members of the ACCJ, back for another IJCC/ACCJ night next year.
