Rugby School was founded in Warwickshire, England in 1567 and is widely known as one of the original seven independent schools. The School’s alumni network has a global reach. Old Rugbeians are to be found in professions around the world. Perhaps the most famous of these was the forefather of the game of rugby which was born at the school exactly 200 years before Rugby School Japan opened its doors. Following the opening of Rugby School in Thailand, Rugby School Japan (RSJ) is the second sister school, providing the same range of opportunities for girls and boys, access to the latest technology, and with a backdrop of the very best traditions.

The curriculum is rigorous and challenging with innovative teaching methods, leading to students achieving world renowned IGCSE and A Level qualifications. RSJ follows the parent school’s philosophy of “The whole person, the whole point” offering a holistic education with a clear focus on the academic, spiritual and artistic growth of students.

The ‘House’ system originated at Rugy School over 200 years ago. The School has four ‘Houses’ which act as a family in the school. The school offers a choice for day students, and also ‘full’ or ‘weekly’ boarding. All students belong to a House, and boarders have the additional experience of living in their new purpose built House.

A wide range of co-curricular activities are offered alongside the academic programme, and are developed with local and international partners to create unique opportunities and encouraging character development. A range of sports, music, drama and dance make use of the cutting edge facilities together with clubs and societies such as debating, financial investment and ecological clubs.
