Event Report: 200 Years of Rugby

The IJCC, alongside 5 international Chambers of Commerce in Japan, came together to celebrate 200 Years of Rugby on February 1st at The Tokyo EDITION in Toranomon.

This event was in collaboration with the Australia-New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ANZCCJ), the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BCCJ), the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Japan (CCCJ), the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (CCI France Japon) and the South African Chamber of Commerce in Japan (SACCJ).

We were delighted to celebrate 200 years of rugby, a sport that has had such a great impact on Ireland, and so many around the world. This special evening was attended by several speakers and guests who have made contributions to the world of rugby, including Koji Tokumasu (Former President of Asia Rugby, Former General Manager of RWC Japan Bid Committee, Former Senior Director of RWC2019 Organising Committee) and Peter Green (Executive Head Master, Rugby School Group UK). We were also very honoured to have the South African Ambassador to Japan Lulama Smuts Ngonyama speak on his own fond memories around the sport of rugby.

Thanks again to all the chambers involved and we look forward to more joint chamber events in the future!
