Event Report: IJCC-BCCJ Joint Networking

Back after a 1 year hiatus, the IJCC were delighted to host our popular joint networking night with the BCCJ at Ireland House in Yotsuya, Tokyo on April 2nd.

The evening started with opening remarks from the Ambassador of Ireland to Japan, Damien Cole as well as the BCCJ president Richard Lyle and IJCC president Sarah Hickey, facilitated by IJCC Director Sam Keane. Following an opening Kanpai, attendees were served drinks and food catered by the Embassy kitchen as they engaged in cross-chamber networking.

During the event, attendees enjoyed a performance by Irish traditional musicians, Dai Komatsu, Eriko Mizukami, and Koji Nagao, thanks to the support of IJCC Corporate member Ode Inc.

We also had a meishi raffle with prizes from both chambers provided by our generous sponsors. The IJCC prizes were donated by the Tokyo Comedy Bar, Pernod Ricard, Busker, and ONODA inc. The BCCJ prizes were donated by Invest Northern Ireland, Lumina Learning, Hilton Tokyo, Conrad Tokyo, Three Rivers, and Whisk-e. A special thanks to all companies that sponsored the event.

The event closed with a performance of Irish Bon Odori, where guests were encouraged to participate in the Irish-Japanese fusion festival dance.

Thank you to the BCCJ for co-hosting this wonderful event with us and helping to create more connections across the two chambers.

We would also like to express our graitude to the Embassy of Ireland, Japan for letting us use Ireland House for the event as well as Ambassador Damien Cole for his opening speech.

Thank you all who attended the event. We hope to see you again soon!
